Squad update: Nico O'Reilly withdrawn

All of the latest news and updates from our England men's squads in the September and October international window

2.30pm, Thursday 1 October

Nico O'Reilly has returned to Manchester City and will play no part in the forthcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures. The left-back sat out the 2-0 victory against Czechia in Prague and has now returned to his club for further assessment.

No further replacements are planned as the Three Lions prepare to face Croatia in Rijeka on Saturday before returning to Wembley to take on Czechia on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Jobe Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund) and Lewis Miley (Newcastle United) have returned to their clubs for the remainder of the current men's under-21s camp.

Harrison Armstrong (Everton) and Trey Nyoni (Liverpool) have joined up with the group as replacements.

Matty Henderson-Hall (Manchester City) has also linked up with the squad to take part in training sessions with the group.

Lee Carsley's side host Slovakia in Stoke on Friday 2 October before travelling to Cork to take on Republic of Ireland on Tuesday 6 October.

3pm, Wednesday 23 September

Jimmy Jay Morgan (West Bromwich Albion), George Hemmings (Aston Villa) and Finlay Herrick have withdrawn from the England MU20s squad for their games in Spain. They have been replaced by Andre Harriman-Annous (Arsenal) and Khari Ranson (Arsenal)

9am, Wednesday 23 September

Jacob Howard (Leeds United) has withdrawn from the MU18s squad due to injury,  and has been replaced by Oliver Wilkinson (Ipswich Town).

9am, Tuesday 22 September

Norwich City defender Ben Chrisene has withdrawn from the England MU21 squad ahead of the Young Lions’ upcoming UEFA U21 EURO 2027 qualifiers.

Chrisene, who was named in Lee Carsley’s squad for the September and October international window, will miss the forthcoming fixtures against Kazakhstan, Slovakia and Republic of Ireland.

The defender has one MU21 cap to his name, having made his debut against Spain in November 2024.

1.30pm, Monday 21 September

Tino Livramento, Kobbie Mainoo, Cole Palmer, Marcus Rashford and Declan Rice have all been ruled out of England’s forthcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures.

The quintet have all withdrawn from the Three Lions squad due to respective injury issues.

James Garner and Morgan Gibbs-White have subsequently been called up and will report to St. George’s Park on Tuesday with the rest of the squad.

Everton’s Garner won his first two senior caps in March 2026, while Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White has six appearances to his name.

England have Spain at Wembley Stadium on Saturday 26 September (7.45pm) first up. The Three Lions then face Czechia in Prague on Tuesday 29 September (7.45pm UK time) and Croatia in Rijeka on Saturday 3 October (5pm UK time) before returning to Wembley to replay the Czechs on Tuesday 6 October (7.45pm) in UEFA Nations League Group A3.

9am, Monday 21 September

England men's under-17s: Javahn Woode (Manchester City) has been added to the England MU17s squad for their games with Republic of Ireland and their trip to Germany for matches with Israel, Venezuela and Germany.

England men's under-18s: Jeremy Monga (Swansea City, on loan from Manchester City), Joel Drakes-Thomas (Crystal Palace), Kahlil Steele (Norwich) and Marli Salmons (Arsenal) are withdrawn from the squad to compete in the UEFA Friendship Cup in Switzerland. They've been replaced by Ajay Tavares (FC Barcelona), Reon Smith (West Ham United) and Gabriel Sambou (Chelsea).
